Bil Senedd Cymru (Rhestrau Ymgeiswyr Etholiadol)| Senedd Cymru (Electoral Candidate Lists) Bill

Ymateb gan Unigolyn | Evidence from Individual

What are your views on the general principles of the Bill and the need for legislation to deliver the Welsh Government’s stated policy objective (to make the Senedd a more effective legislature by ensuring it is broadly representative of the gender make-up of the population)?

I believe that this bill as it stands can be subjected to abuse of the system. While it is admirable that WG are attempting to encourage more female representation by omitting the term biological woman and using the more generic identify as a woman they are opening a gateway to said abuse. Any one regardless of biological sex can identify as a woman in this scenario. Human nature is fickle and some people may want to win at any cost what is to stop biological males from identifying as female in order to do so? Also the whole aim of increasing female participation in Welsh politics has been diluted down. This may have an adverse effect and actually bring about a decrease in female participation.

What are your views on the system of enforcement and potential sanctions for non-compliance proposed in the Bill?

Simply stating you are a woman leaves the system open to abuse. This is unfair to biological women. Anyone can state they are a woman but really are a male. The wording defeats the objective of the bill. Unless of course that is what is intended and WG are attempting to introduce self ID through this bill.

Are there any potential barriers to the implementation of the Bill’s provisions? If so, what are they, and are they adequately taken into account in the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum and Regulatory Impact Assessment?

Are any unintended consequences likely to arise from the Bill?

Abuse of the bill

More likely to reduce the inclusion of biological women in Welsh politics as anyone can identify as a woman if they wish to do so.?

What are your views on the Welsh Government’s assessment of the financial and other impacts of the Bill?

What are your views on the balance between the information contained on the face of the Bill and what is left to subordinate legislation? Are the powers for Welsh Ministers to make subordinate legislation appropriate?

Do you have any views on matters relating to the legislative competence of the Senedd including compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights?

WG have no right to introduce self ID in any way as it goes against the devolution act

Do you have any views on matters related to the quality of the legislation, or to the constitutional or other implications of the Bill?

WG are useless

Are there any other issues that you would like to raise about the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum or any related matters?

Yes we do not require an e yea 36 politicians and their subsequent expense . We are over represented compared to other parts of the UK

Anything else?
